Affinity Dental Now Accepting the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)

Bridgwater Dentist

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) helps uninsured Canadian families access much-needed dental care by covering a portion of dental treatment costs through participating providers. We’re proud to announce that Affinity Dental is now accepting the CDCP—and we’re thrilled to offer services through the program to eligible patients in our community.

What This Means for You

First, you’ll need to determine if you qualify for the CDCP. To be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:

  • You do not have access to dental insurance
  • Your adjusted family net income is under $90,000
  • You are a Canadian resident for tax purposes
  • You have filed a tax return for the previous year

As of August 2024, the CDCP is available to:

  • Seniors aged 65 or older
  • Adults with a valid Disability Tax Credit certificate
  • Children under the age of 18

The federal government is aiming to expand CDCP access to all remaining eligible residents by 2025.

Understanding Your Coverage

It’s important to note that the CDCP does not cover 100% of treatment costs. At its highest level, it covers up to 74% of the provincial fee guide, so some out-of-pocket expense will always apply.

For families with household incomes between $70,000 and $89,999, the coverage rates are lower:

  • 60% coverage for families earning $70,000–$79,999
  • 40% coverage for families earning $80,000–$89,999

Also, since the CDCP’s fee schedule is lower than Manitoba’s provincial fee guide, out-of-pocket costs may be higher than expected for these income brackets. Our team at Affinity Dental is here to help you understand your costs and plan your care accordingly.

What Treatments Are Covered?

At present, the CDCP covers basic dental care, such as:

  • Cleanings
  • Oral exams
  • Fillings
  • Root canals
  • Select oral surgeries

As of November 2024, the federal government plans to introduce pre-authorization to expand the scope of treatments available under the program. If you’re wondering whether a specific treatment is eligible, our team will be happy to clarify your options during your visit.

Not All Clinics Participate—But We Do

Only dental providers who opt in can offer services through the CDCP. At Affinity Dental, we’ve chosen to participate in the program because we believe accessible dental care is essential for the health and well-being of all Canadians.

We’re excited to welcome new CDCP patients and to support existing patients who now qualify.
